'Church & State' reading at Wilburton Inn

MANCHESTER — A cast of professional actors will read Jason Odell Williams' "Church & State," a fast-paced, witty, and funny look at faith, politics, and "The Twitter," at 2 p.m. on June 9 at the Wilburton Inn.

It is three days before Charles Whitmore's Senate reelection and he has decided to tell the truth about what's on his mind. What could go wrong?

The play begins after a school incident in Raleigh, North Carolina leads Whitmore to question, not only his faith, but his political beliefs.

He has doubts about his stance on guns and experiences a crisis of faith. Telling the truth and speaking from his heart could end his political career. He does so and the end result of his honesty is both disturbing and tranformative.

Williams has written an enjoyable, thought-provoking and timely piece which speaks to the lunacy of modern politics.

The reading is open to the public, and donations are accepted. To reserve a seat, call 802-362-2500.

The Wilburton Inn is located at 257 Wilburton Drive in Manchester.
