BENNINGTON — The roads were clear of snow and the temperature sat in the mid-80's on Friday, but at Southwestern Vermont Health Care's Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, it was the height of the holiday season.

The center's Catamount Cafe was decorated for "Christmas in July," complete with a Christmas tree; red, white, and green balloons; and stuffed polar bears dressed in wintery outfits, and residents were treated to Christmas cookies and presents from Santa.

Music was provided by singer and guitarist Sally McCracken, who played what she called "vintage music:" classic Christmas and winter-themed songs, including "Let it Snow," "Winter Wonderland," and "White Christmas."

"Santa," in this case resident Ron Salisbury, was helped out by Kathy Campbell, and the two of them moved around the room throughout the event, making sure that all of the residents got a present.
