Bromley celebrates Mother's Day four months early

PERU — Mother's Day comes four months early at Bromley Mountain in southern Vermont, as the legendary ski resort repeats its successful Mom's Day Out fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Now in its 15th year, full-day lift tickets for mothers of all ages are available for a $25 donation to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center (SVRCC) based in Bennington. The normal weekend walk-up lift ticket rate is $80.

To qualify, mothers simply show the ticket window a digital smartphone image of their offspring, or an actual photograph. The day includes a happy hour in the base lodge Wild Boar Tavern from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring the local Berkshire Mountains band "Satellite Shine" and drink specials. Representatives of SVRCC will host an information table in the lodge that Saturday. In 2017, 400 moms participated in the fundraiser which was held on a weekday. Resort executives hope to raise even more this year now that the event is scheduled for a weekend.

School's out so moms can bring their kids along. Bromley day care for ages six weeks to six years, day care with skiing for ages 2-1/2 to 6, and KidsRule Mountain Camps for ages 5 to 12 will be available at regular rates through advance reservations. Call the Snowsports School at 802 824 5522.
