Bennington man arrested for third DUI offense
SHAFTSBURY — A Bennington man was arrested for his third DUI offense after a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, officials say.
Around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, troopers from the Vermont State Police, Shaftsbury Barracks responded to the area of Lamb Road for a report of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, troopers found Michael Thorpe, 41, asleep behind the wheel with an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle, according to a media release from the state police.
Investigation revealed Thorpe had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and processed for DUI, third offense. He was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division on Monday, July 29 at 8:15 a.m. to answer to the charge.
