Old First Church launches lecture series


BENNINGTON — The Old First Church in Old Bennington is launching a new lecture series, to be held at 1 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at the church. The lectures are free and open to the public.

The series begins on May 22 with "New Lights versus Old Lights: Religion in early Bennington," presented by Don Miller.

On June 19, the Rev. Kenneth A. Clarke, pastor of the church, will present "Church, State and Community in Early Bennington and the New Hampshire Grants.

Historian Robert Hoar will present "The Battle of Bennington and its impact on Old Bennington" on July 17.

On August 21, Charles Dewey and Vicky Printz will conduct a tour of the church's cemetery.

The series concludes on Sept. 18, with a walking tour of Old Bennington led by Bob Tegart.
