MANCHESTER — Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning  welcomes author and journalist Elizabeth Kolbert to present from her Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History."

The talk will take place on Monday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Manchester Community Library. Over the last half-billion years, there have been five major mass extinctions. The last of these, caused by an asteroid impact, did in the dinosaurs. Scientists now say we are on the verge of a sixth extinction. This time the cause is us. How are humans driving a mass extinction and what can be done?

Registration for the talk is $18 in advance or $22 at the door.
