Arlington Memorial announces valedictorian and salutatorian


ARLINGTON — Arlington Memorial High School Principal Sarah Merrill has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the graduating Class of 2019. Shaana Staab received valedictory honors, and Therese Belnap earned salutatory honors. Staab and Belnap will address their classmates during the AMHS Graduation ceremony at noon on Saturday in the Arlington Memorial High School gymnasium.

Staab received the University of Vermont prestigious Green and Gold Award 2018 and with plans to study Chinese and pre-law at the university in the fall. Staab has received numerous high honors and awards for her academic achievements. She completed the Arlington Accelerated Academy, is a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the Vermont Principals' Association Award of Excellence. Staab is the active president of the Arlington Memorial National Honors Society, class treasurer, and editor of the Arlington Memorial yearbook committee. She is a three-sport athlete and captain of the varsity soccer D-IV state championship team.

Belnap is an academic scholar and National Honor Society member, and has received numerous awards and honors for her academic achievements including Academic Excellence in AP English and calculus. Belnap is a member of the Arlington Memorial concert band, jazz band, and chorus, and is a multi-sport athlete competing on the AMHS varsity track & field, golf, basketball and D-IV state soccer championship team. She will study at Williams College in the fall.
