BENNINGTON — Southwestern Vermont Medical Center is hosting an American Red Cross Blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at the First Baptist Church at 601 Main St., Bennington. The drive had previously been scheduled for the SVMC Employee Cafeteria.

With so many workplaces, college campuses and schools temporarily closed during the coronavirus outbreak, an unprecedented number of blood drives have been cancelled, creating a severe blood shortage for the American Red Cross. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood.

To make an appointment to donate, visit www.redcrossblood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or text bloodapp to 90999 to download the app to your smartphone. As always, walk-ins will be accommodated as well.

Those who have questions about the drive may contact Susan Gallina at 802-447-5345.
