BENNINGTON — The Alliance for Community Transformations (ACT) has recognized Melissa Mears as its 2020 Member of the Year for "outstanding commitment to our mission of supporting healthy youth."

Mears has been a member of the coalition since 2014. She leads the youth engagement committee and has been instrumental in the planning and execution of the annual Youth Appreciation Day event.

This past year, Mears offered a teen writing workshop series in conjunction with Bennington Free Library, and facilitated outdoor family events with prevention partner, RiseVT.

"Melissa is passionate about creating opportunities for youth to engage in healthy activity," ACT Director Dare Chammings said in a media release. "Her creativity and dedication make Melissa an asset to our organization and community."
