BENNINGTON — Six people were arrested Wednesday on charges of possessing, selling and conspiracy to distribute heroin after police found around 7 grams of suspected heroin at a Bennington residence.

Three of the people detained are from Bennington: Christopher Dessert, 26; Ciara Violette, 27; and Paige Wilkins, 36, according to a news release from the Bennington Police Department. The others are Adam Bryant, 27, Brattleboro; Jose Guzan, 42, of Springfield, Mass. and Elijah Martinez, 20, of Holyoke, Mass.

The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant at 15 Hawks Place, where police uncovered 140 bags of suspected heroin weighing 3.2 grams and 4 grams of bulk heroin in four vials. Police also found $3,295 in cash and the six people arrested, the release stated.

All are being held at the Bennington Police Department in lieu of $25,000 bail. They were scheduled to appear at the Bennington Superior criminal court at 12:30 p.m. today.

The search for illegal drugs was the result of interdiction work by the Bennington Police Department, including K-9 Gracie, and analytical support from the Vermont National Guard Counterdrug Program. The Bennington County Sheriff's Department also assisted.
