2019 Regional All-Stars Cross Country: Page, Umphlett, Foley lead the pack
Presenting our 2019 Regional All-Stars Gala cross country athletes:
Boys cross country athlete of the year: Evan Page, Mount Anthony senior
Page finished out a strong high school cross-country career with another great effort in 2018. Page finished second in MAU's home race in mid-September. He finished fourth in the 3-mile race at the Greenwich Invitational. At the Division I state championships, Page was the top finisher for MAU, taking 14th place in the 5,000-meter race. This is his third consecutive year receiving the honor as the cross country athlete of the year.
Girls cross country co-athlete of the year: Sarah Umphlett, Mount Anthony junior
Umphlett once again was a top performer for MAU on the trails. Umphlett was a second-place finisher in the Patriots' home race in mid-September. She finished eighth in the Marble Valley Leauge meet. She took 16th in the 3-mile at the Greenwich Invitational. At the Division I state championships, she was the top Patriot finisher in the 5,000-meter race, placing 25th. This is her third consecutive year receiving the cross country athlete of the year honor.
Girls cross country co-athlete of the year: Liara Foley, Burr and Burton freshman
Foley had a strong freshman season for Burr and Burton on the trails. She finished sixth in the Marble Valley League meet. She took third place in a meet on the road at Willow Park hosted by MAU and was first place in a race in Rutland in early September.
