200th Bondville Fair is this weekend

BONDVILLE — The 220th edition of the Bondville Fair, the oldest continually held fair in Vermont, is being held Friday through Sunday.

The schedule includes competitions at the pulling track for oxen, horses, trucks and tractors, floral, quilt and craft exhibitions, a sugar house demonstration, farm animals, bingo, and a midway with rides.

At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, the "Pee Wee Pedal Power Pull" will be held for children ages 3-9. There is no admission fee, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Locally-raised produce, cooking specialties, arts and crafts will once again be judged and displayed at the Ailene Capen Floral Hall. Entries will be accepted from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and from 8-10 a.m. on Friday.

Two items are allowed per category, with unlimited entries for vegetables, fruit and all childrens' items in all categories. Entries are being accepted in the following categories:

- Vegetables, fruits and eggs (Unlimited entries adult and child)

- Plants and cut flowers

- Hay

- Preserves and pickles

- Baked goods & bread

- Needlecraft & clothing

- Arts and Crafts (Must have been created within 2 years and not awarded a cash prize at the Bondville Fair.)

Judging will take place from 10:30 a.m. to Noon Friday, Aug. 25, when the exhibit hall will open for the fair. Entries must be picked up by 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27.

Admission is $5 for all on Friday, and $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors on Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 10 a.m. all three days of the fair.
