No new COVID-19 cases detected at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility

Test results from Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility showed no new positive cases of COVID-19 among the 42 staff and 76 inmates tested Thursday, the Vermont Department of Corrections announced Friday.

A positive test result from one of the 84 CRCF staff who volunteered for testing Monday triggered mass testing of the entire facility, the department said.

"These results show that Corrections' protocols are working and staff at CRCF are following it," said Interim Commissioner Jim Baker. "We're going to remain faithful to our evidence-based protocols, but we recognize that we cannot let up on our focus to keep our staff and inmates safe."

Mass testing has now been conducted on all staff and inmates at both Northwest Regional Correctional Facility and CRCF. Vermont Department of Health staff will begin testing staff and inmates at Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury next week.
