For school board members representing the three school districts of the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union, December ranks as one of the most challenging times of the year. While 2022 holiday celebrations might be on the horizon, important budget deliberations for fiscal year 2024 fill up the BRSU calendar during the first three weeks of the month. Decisions made in these December district board meetings determine the 2023-24 education budgets approved by the boards in January and voted on by the public in March.

We encourage residents of the 12 Northshire communities served by the BRSU to attend the appropriate district December meeting for their town. All three BRSU school districts build agendas that include opportunities for public comment at the start and end of each session. Background materials, with line-by-line proposed budget details, are published at a few days prior to each meeting. Anyone can attend, online or in-person, and have an opportunity to participate.

Please join us to hear, learn, speak up and be ready to vote in March. Our work is done best when you play a role in its outcome.
