WOODFORD — Nordic skiers from around Vermont descended on Prospect Mountain over the weekend for the second race in the Vermont Cup.

Limited to skiers under the age of 23, dozens competed in the sprint events on Saturday and the distance races on Sunday.

In the U-16 boys division, Stratton Mountain School’s Fin Bailey won the 10-kilometer race, part of a 1-2-3 finish for SMS. Mount Anthony freshman Riley Thurber was ninth and classmate Finn Payne was 12th.

In the U-16 girls division, Stratton Mountain School’s Miley Bletzer won by almost a minute in the 7.5-kilometer event.

Mount Anthony’s Eden White was 12th.

In the men’s distance race, Stratton’s Elite T2 team member Bill Harmeyer won the event, with MAU sophomore Peter McKenna 20th.

In the women’s distance race, Ava Thurston, the former Harwood star, won the event, with MAU senior Maggie Payne 21st.
