BENNINGTON — Brittany D. Canfield has joined the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation as an adult-gerontology primary care practitioner, Southwestern Vermont Health Care has announced.

Canfield, who received her doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Massachusetts in May, will help provide medical care to both long-term care residents and short-term rehabilitation patients at the Centers.

In her new role, she will work with Margaret Thompson, ARNP, and Dr. James Poole, CLR medical director.

Canfield holds two bachelor’s degrees: one in nursing from the University of Maine and a second in kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts. She has worked as a registered nurse at the Central Vermont Medical Center’s walk-in clinic since September 2019 and served on the health system’s Coronavirus Mobile Testing team.

Before that, she was a registered nurse at Family Medicine Waterbury in Waterbury, Vt., and at Franciscan Home Care and Hospice in Meriden, Conn. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.

CLR is a skilled nursing facility that provides short-term rehabilitation and long-term residential care. It is located at 160 Hospital Drive in Bennington. For more information about CLR and its services, call 802-447-1547.
