BENNINGTON — The Bennington County Choral Society announced the winners of its Student Music Scholarship Program. Jocelyn Millette and Trinity Madison, both students at Mount Anthony Union High School, were awarded scholarships after excelling in the competitive auditions witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd.

First place went to Millette, who works with Lynn Sweet at Mount Anthony. She sang the Italian aria "O Del Mio Dolce Ardor," composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck and "Habanera (L'amour est un oiseau rebelle)" from the opera Carmen, written by Georges Bizet.

Madison, the second-place winner, studies privately with Michelle Marrocco. She performed "Alma Del Core," an Italian aria composed by Antonio Caldera, and "I Dreamed a Dream," a selection from the musical "Les Miserables," composed by Claude-Michel Schonberg.

The Scholarship Program, sponsored by The Bank of Bennington and Stewart's Holiday Match, helps high school students further their music education. Auditions are held in the spring. Information about next year's auditions is on the BCCS website at benningtoncountychoralsociety.org.
