Dorset Library


The featured artist at the Dorset Public Library during the month of October will be John

Charles Pitcher. The public is invited to meet John at the opening reception on Saturday,

Oct. 5 from 11-1 p.m. Refreshments will be served. All works are for sale, with a portion

of the proceeds benefiting the library.

For over forty-five years, John Charles Pitcher has expressed his love for birds and the natural

world through his sketches an paintings. His success in capturing the sense of a place and

likeness of his subjects reveals not only his mastery of technique but also his passion and

knowledge as a naturalist. As a Distinguished Signature Member of the Society of Animal

Artists, Pitcher exhibits in museums and fine art galleries both domestic and abroad. Pitcher

has painted an explored the vastness of Alaska, canoe the wilderness waters of Canada and

sketched the migrating caribou herds of northern Labrador, but he continues to be amazed and

inspire by the diversity and beauty found in his own back yard. This exhibit will feature

sketches and works inspired by Dorset’s natural beauty.
