Before Ray Fisher pitched for the New York Yankees, he played ball for Bennington. On Sunday, June 11, 1911, he returned from the Major Leagues for a game against North Adams. The Bennington Banner credited him with drawing a crowd of 800, and they were not disappointed. "Fisher pitched but four innings. During these four innings one North Adams batter made a hit and went as far as first base but that was all there was to it." Fisher later played for the Cincinnati Reds, and had a successful 38-year coaching career at the University of Michigan.
