BENNINGTON >> Local author Peggy Kern will be at The Bennington Bookshop on June 22 at 7 p.m. to read from her latest book, "Little Peach." Kern's book has been nominated by the American Library Association as a Best Fiction For Young Adults book for 2015. It is also a Junior Library Guild selection. Little Peach is a compelling novel that paints an authentic picture of the horrors of human trafficking. In researching the material for the book, Kern spent time with a New York detective, and interviewed two survivors of child prostitution extensively. Little Peach is a wake up call to all of us about how easily the vulnerable are exploited.

Kern is also the author of two books in the popular Bluford High Series, "No Way Out" and "The Test." "No Way Out" was selected by the American Library Association/Young Adult Library Service Association as 2009 Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers.

There will be an opportunity for questions and answers after the reading, and Kern will sign copies of her book. Refreshments will be provided.
