RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — A 19-year-old man whose body was found in a motel room was shot to death by another young man who turned himself in to police, officials said Sunday.

The body of Jonah Pandiani was found Saturday morning, and 18-year-old Kahliq Richardson turned himself in hours later, Rutland police said. Richardson was later released from custody and is due in court on Monday.

Pandiani’s body was taken to the chief medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Details weren't yet available on Sunday.

The Vermont State Police major crime and the narcotics units joined the Rutland Police Department in the investigation.

The Rutland Police Department asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact detectives.
