Monday, May 12 BENNINGTON — The number of church-goers is declining and to counter that, St. Peter's Episcopal Church is attracting newcomers by hosting events and building community. Monday, May 12 The Senate approved a bill to stop gas taxes from Memorial Day to Labor day last week but the Assembly has yet to address it and Assembly Republican Leader James Tedisco is starting a grassroots petition to move it through. Saturday, May 10 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — A local man who excelled in academics and athletics at Southern Vermont College will return to campus on May 18 to be honored at the college's 81st graduation ceremonies. Monday, May 12 SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Padres acquired right-handed reliever Bryan Corey from the Boston Red Sox on Sunday for a player to be named or cash. To make room on the roster, the Padres optioned left-hander Joe Thatcher to Triple-A Portland. Corey was outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket on April 30 by the Red Sox.   Full Story

Monday, May 12 QUEENSBURY, N.Y. — The Patriot track and field teams proved they could run with some of the best competition in New York on Saturday, as both the boys and girls placed in the top half of more than 20 teams at the Queensbury High School Invitational.
