Woman crashes into two houses, child passenger unhurt

Posted

POWNAL -- A small child escaped injury in a crash on Route 346 Tuesday in which a car struck two houses and flipped over.

According to Vermont State Police Trooper Wayne Godfrey, Nicole M. Prouty-Carbonaro, 31, of Dean Road, was traveling east on Route 346 in her 2010 Ford Mustang when she went off the south side of the road and struck the front stoop of a home. That caused the car to flip and come to a rest under the front porch of an adjacent house.

Police said Prouty-Carbonaro suffered "moderate non-life threatening injuries" and was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, where she was held for precautionary measures. The child who was a passenger in the car at the time was not injured. The car was totaled.

The crash happened in the area of 3138 Route 346.

Police did not say what caused Carbonaro-Prouty to leave the road, but the release indicated there will be no court action taken.
