White named Storm line coach
With White being a long-time member of the team, Storm general manager Chris Cipperley knew he would be a valuable addition to a staff motivated to repeat as Maritime Conference champions.
"The season that had just concluded was going to be his last season and we wanted to keep him involved," Cipperley said. "It was a no-brainer for us to bring him aboard as a coach."
White brings a wealth of experience to the role. During his time with the Storm, he has played on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. He played alongside the newly-hired head coach, Coon, so he figures to have a seamless transition heading into his new role.
Cipperley believes that the familiarity factor White brings will help him connect with the players he coaches, especially since many have played with him in the past.
"He's been with the team since the beginning. He's played against all sorts of talent," Cipperley said. "Since the beginning of the team, the Storm has been in two different leagues and divisions in that time. At this point, Brandon has kind of seen it all. He knows what it takes to play and be successful at this level. Being able to balance travel and family just really relates well to the players."
In regards to fully filling out the coaching staff, Cipperley states that the team is about halfway done. The Storm are still looking to add a few more coaches. At minimum, the team is looking to add an offensive coordinator and a special teams coach, but depending on interest, may add another coach to the mix.
As the Storm's coaching staff begins to take shape, they are continuing their efforts to bring in a solid group of players for the 2018 season.
They will have their first player sign-up meeting January 1 at JC's Tavern in Bennington. The sign-ups will begin at 3 p.m.
