Welch discusses transportation fund negotiations

Posted

WATERBURY (AP) - The Vermont Agency of Transportation has released a list of more than 50 road, bridge and rail projects that could be delayed because the federal money relied on for those projects might not be available.

Congressman Peter Welch on Monday discussed negotiations in Congress over reauthorization of the Highway Trust Fund, which is how states pay for most major road construction projects.

Welch says the House is expected to take up a short-term reauthorization early this week.

Windham County projects of concern, include:

-- In Rockingham, replacement of rehabilitation of Bridge No. 11R on TH1, over the Saxtons River

-- In Winhall, replacement of Bridge Nos. 47 and 52 (short structures) on VT30

-- In Rockingham, Bridge No. 107 at mile post 5.023 (bridge bearings)
