’Go the Distance’ 5k Race

BENNINGTON -- United Counseling Service is pleased to announce that registration is open for Go the Distance, a 5k fun run sponsored by the Batten Kill Valley Runners Club to benefit the Peer Support Program at UCS.

The 5k will take place on Saturday, June 21, starting at 9 a.m. at 316 Dewey St.

Interested runners can register for the event on the Active.com website, pre-registration is $15 or $20 on race day. Kids under 14 can participate for $10, and a family rate is being offered for $35. Pre-registered runners will receive a free Go the Distance T-shirt. T-shirts will be available to those who register on race day on a first-come basis. There will be a free fun run for children following the awards ceremony.

BENNINGTON -- The Yoga Place is offering Pure Yoga/Divine Yoga with Peter Rizzo on June 21 from 9-11:30 a.m. at 532 Main St. Peter Rizzo teaches yoga in the Jivamukti, or bliss, style and is a master teacher, teaching in New York City and Brattleboro.

Come-unity sing

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- St. Luke’s invites all to an evening of praise and worship music on Saturday, June 21, at 7 p.m.

The group sing will be led by Celia Van Buskirk, Annabelle Bink and Judy Stevens, members of The Open Bible Baptist Church and known locally as the singing trio, Earthen Vessels.

Many familiar hymns have been chosen as well as a new one or two so please tune up your vocal cords and join us for a night of song and praise In the spirit of community this is a Free sing-a-long. St. Luke’s is located directly behind the Rice Mansion on St. Luke’s Place.

The event will be held in the church.

Bennington Farmers’ Market

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Farmers’ Market will be held Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Riverwalk Park on Depot Street. Join our region’s farmers and producers for the best in fresh, local plants, vegetables, cheeses, meats, eggs, prepared foods, specialty items and crafts. Immune Friction will provide music for the market. Volunteers from the Farmhouse Nursery School will be staffing the kids’ tent.

The market will run every Saturday through October.

Paint drop-off event

BENNINGTON -- PaintCare and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources recently announced a statewide paint recycling program.

The program now has more than 30 paint stores throughout the state for the public to take unwanted and leftover paint for recycling year-round. Paintcare is holding a special free drop-off event in Bennington on June 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bennington Municipal Parking Lot, 205 South St.

Benefit dance party

NORTH BENNINGTON -- There will be a benefit to support the Shaftsbury After School program on June 21 at 8 p.m. at the Vermont Arts Exchange, featuring FunkInTheTrunk. Tickets are $30 each and available at www.vtartxchange.org or call 800-838-3006.

No parking Saturday and Sunday

BENNINGTON -- The municipal parking lot behind the Bennington Station Restaurant will be closed from Saturday night, June 21 at 10 p.m. until Sunday afternoon, June 22 at 4 p.m. for the Great Race event.

Please use the municipal parking lot behind the fire station during this time.

Legion bingo

BENNINGTON -- Bingo at American Legion Post 13 is held every Sunday. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. No one under 14 admitted.

CrossFit Basics class

BENNINGTON -- Bennington CrossFit runs CrossFit Basics every Sunday at both 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. CrossFit Basics is a completely free class, which is open to the public. In this class, we introduce you to the CrossFit methodology in a manner that is ideal for someone brand new to CrossFit.

Our primary focus in this class is for the participants to learn proper form and technique, while finishing each class with a short, high intensity workout. The Dorset Farmers’ Market

DORSET -- The Dorset Farmers’ Market is back outside on the lawn for its fourth week at H. N. Williams General Store, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. BuzzSaw Boys will be there providing toe-tapping entertainment. Find all your favorite area producers, plus a few new ones -- bringing their best in fresh seasonal produce, artisan breads, grass-fed meats, cheeses, and wines; alongside unique artisan goods. Join us as we "Shop Local, Shop Fresh" every Sunday though Columbus Day outdoors on the green at H.N. Williams Store, Route 30. Donate your old travel guides

MANCHESTER -- Please donate your no longer needed travel guides and phrase books to Mark Skinner Library: Manchester’s Public Library. The library would like to enhance our travel section with your 2012 and newer donations. Mark Skinner Library is located at 48 West Road. You can drop off your gently used travel guide and phrase book donations during library hours: Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
