It is more than sand, stone and cement. It’s the people that make our projects happen.

Founded in 1927 by the Dailey Family, the William E. Dailey Companies main operation covers 160 acres off Route 7A in Shaftsbury. Over the years, the Dailey operation has grown to an operation that employees over 200 people in the height of the construction season with additional locations in Manchester, Wilmington and Hoosick New York.

In 2004, The Dailey Company was purchased by Peckham Industries, a family owned and operated company allowing us to continue our growth in the industry by providing the resources of a larger company.

William E Dailey Inc. provides aggregates, ready mix concrete and black top for the construction industry. We have a quarry in Hoosick and several gravel pits that we extract material from to make our sand and stone products that are used in the local construction market. Our Ready Mix plant and hot mix plant are DOT-certified plants for the states of Vermont, New York and Massachusetts. The company has the ability to reclaim black top from a road and reuse the RAP (Recycled Asphalt Pavement) for the base of the new road and in some applications, use the reclaimed material along with additional mixtures to create the new finished road.

William E Dailey provided numerous yards of concrete and many miles of black top for the newly opened 279 Bennington Bypass.

William E Dailey Precast, located on Airport Road in Shaftsbury, has a 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility designed with flexibility in mind. Our plant features a completely enclosed temperature-controlled production environment, multiple casting and tensioning stations, a fully automated central mixer and integrated steel fabrication capabilities. Combined with our engineering, carpentry and quality control departments, we assure command over all aspects of the process. Our Plant is PCI-certified and consistently scores in the highest range in the industry. Dailey Precast is the top producer of precast components needed to build precast concreteparking garages, office buildings and bridges.

The Dailey Company team members are many people with a wide variety of backgrounds. We have engineers, Class A & B CDL drivers (Commercial Driver’s license), diesel mechanics, sales representatives, project managers and production crew members. To back up our departments, our quality control specialist and our safety officers make sure our product is the best and is completed in safe environment. Our employees operate many different types of construction equipment including travel cranes, fork trucks, dump truck, cement mixers, loaders, excavators and many smaller pieces of equipment. Many of our employees have had construction experience and or have attended courses at the Career Development Center here in Bennington.

The Dailey Company has had the opportunity over the years to increase in size and number of employees which allows us to provide excellent customer service and superior products.

Bob Wilcox is human resources and safety manager of The Dailey Company.
