Vt. police think same woman robbed 2 stores

WEST RUTLAND (AP) - Vermont State Police say the nighttime robberies of two convenience stores in Rutland County may be linked to the same masked woman with a handgun.

Authorities say a woman wearing a hooded sweatshirt, ski mask and armed with a handgun robbed Nichols' Store in Danbury Saturday and the Stewart's Shop in West Rutland Wednesday.

The Burlington Free Press quotes police as saying the description of the woman and execution of the robberies lead them to believe they were committed by the same person.

In both robberies, the woman handed a note to clerks demanding cash. The handgun was evident but she did not brandish it.

The woman is described as slender and about 5'3.

Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to call state police at 802-773-9101.
