Vt. man to be arraigned in death of 2-year-old
RUTLAND (AP) - A Vermont man police say beat to death his 2-year-old stepdaughter will appear in court on a charge of second-degree murder.
Authorities say 31-year-old Dennis Duby of Poultney is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond after being charged Saturday in the death of toddler Dezirae Sheldon. The child died Friday at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover - two days after she was rushed to the emergency room with head injuries.
An autopsy by the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office determined that Dezirae died of blunt trauma injuries to the head.
Duby is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Rutland Superior Court. It was not immediately known whether he has a lawyer.
