Vt. building flags at half-staff for late judge
MONTPELIER (AP) - Flags at government buildings across Vermont will be at half-staff to honor the late federal judge Franklin Billings, Jr.
Gov. Peter Shumlin ordered that flags at all federal and state facilities, buildings and grounds across the state be lowered through sunset on Friday.
The order took effect Wednesday.
Billings died Sunday at age 91 in his Woodstock home.
He was a former chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Vermont, chief justice of the Vermont Supreme Court and speaker of the Vermont House of Representatives.
