SHAFTSBURY — State troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks conducted saturation patrols in the towns of Pownal and Shaftsbury on the evening of Jan 27.

Patrol Commander Sgt. Seth Loomis said the purpose of the patrol was to focus on speed enforcement, distracted driving and the detection and apprehension of alcohol/drug impaired operators.

During the detail, troopers initiated 26 traffic stops, issuing multiple tickets and warnings.

One operator was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol, and one consent search was conducted, resulting in the seizure of marijuana.

Police reminded all motorists to avoid operating under the influence of alcohol/drugs and to always utilize a sober driver.
