Veteran Vermont prosecutor to lead AG criminal division

MONTPELIER (AP) - A veteran criminal prosecutor in the Vermont attorney general's office is the new chief of the criminal division.

The appointment of John Treadwell was announced Tuesday.

Treadwell has worked in the criminal division of the attorney general's office for 14 years. Before that he worked for four years as a deputy state's attorney in Chittenden County.

Attorney General William Sorrell says the office needs Treadwell's experience.

Treadwell graduated from Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
