Vermont's Governor's Cup to test officials' fishing skills

MONTPELIER (AP) - Gov. Peter Shumlin and Congressman Peter Welch are among the Vermont officials testing their fishing skills in the 7th annual Governor's Cup fishing derby.

Anglers gather Wednesday on the shores of the Winooski River in Colchester in hopes of leading their teams to victory.

Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger and Vermont Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter will be among the other team leaders.

The proceeds of this good-natured, charity fishing derby benefit the Next Generation Fund and the Champlain Fisheries Recovery Initiative.
