POWNAL — A man wasn't injured after the SUV he was driving went off Searles Crossing Road last week, according to Vermont State Police.

Michael S. LaFountain, 49, of Pownal was traveling west at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday when he lost control of the 2006 Hyundai Tuscan he was driving, police said in a news release. Conditions were snowy at the time. The vehicle slid off the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree. LaFountain was taken by Pownal Rescue Squad to Southwestern Vermont Medical center in Bennington for a head and neck injury and a minor knee and shoulder injury. The SUV received severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene by All-Service Citgo. The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Pownal Fire Department and Pownal Rescue Squad.

SHAFTSBURY — Two men weren't injured after a truck collided with a plow truck on Wednesday morning, according to Vermont State Police.

Lyle A. Aiken, 34, of Bennington was traveling north on East Road just after 7 a.m. when he lost control of his 1999 Ford truck near the intersection of Glastenbury Road, police said in a news release. When Aiken lost control of his vehicle, it collided with the passenger side of a 2015 International truck with a plow being driven by Kyle E. Legacy, 29, of Shaftsbury, who had been clearing snow. Aiken's truck received damage to its front passenger side quarter panel and bumper. Aiken was cited for driving with a license that had been criminally suspended from a prior DUI. He's scheduled to appear in Bennington criminal court on Jan. 8. The Ford was towed from the scene.
