Vermont helicopters to train on Lake Champlain

BURLINGTON (AP) - Vermont National Guard helicopter crews are going to be training near the Lake Champlain waterfront in Burlington.

On Saturday, crews of the air ambulance unit will be training with overwater hoist extraction, using a firefighting bucket and downed aircraft recovery. There will also be individual water survival training.

The aircraft will land at a nearby dog park, and the public will be able to speak with the crews.

The Coast Guard auxiliary will provide security to ensure the boating public stays clear of the helicopters.
