Vermont Green Up Day said to be success
MONTPELIER (AP) -- Organizers of Vermont’s annual Green Up Day clean up say this past weekend’s event was a success.
The organizers say it’s too early to know the exact numbers of participants and the amount of trash that was collected across the state on Saturday, all indications are that it was a successful year.
Green Up Vermont President Melinda Vieux says the rain early in the day didn’t seem to dampen people’s enthusiasm.
Lt. Gov. Phil Scott, who helped pick up trash in Central Vermont, says that just because Green Up Day is over doesn’t mean the work is done. He urges people who see litter on the roadside to clean it up, no matter the time of year.
