Vermont addiction recovery centers get donation
MONTPELIER (AP) - The president and CEO of Subaru of New England has made a $50,000 donation to two Vermont addiction recovery centers.
Gov. Peter Shumlin joined Ernie Boch Jr. Wednesday to announce the donation to Recovery House Inc. That group operates the Serenity House residential addiction treatment center in Wallingford, and the Grace House in Rutland, a halfway house for recovering addicts who are done with residential treatment.
Boch's donation initially was to be $25,000, and a large check was made in that amount for him to present to Recovery House CEO Richard Keane. But in the middle of the news conference, Boch said he was raising the donation to $50,000. He then crossed out the numbers on the check and wrote in new ones.
