Update: Hoosick crash injures three
HOOSICK, N.Y. - Police say a three-car collision on Route 7 that sent three to the hospital may have been caused by the sun.
The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash that occurred around 6:45 a.m. Police said in a release that all three vehicles were heading east just west of Babcock Lake Road when it took place.
According to police, the drivers of all three vehicles reported that their views were hindered by the glaring sun. One vehicle rear-ended another causing the crash. A third vehicle then came upon the crash and struck one of the two vehicles involved in the first crash, according to Police.
A 48-year-old woman was transported to Albany Medical Center with hip and head injuries. Two occupants in the third vehicle, ages 18 and 13, were taken to Southern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. Police did not release their names or conditions.
The investigation is ongoing and charges may be filed, police said.
