Troy, N.Y., police search for suspects in couple's beating deaths

TROY, N.Y. -- Police here are on the lookout for two suspects in a Troy neighborhood double homicide where a man and woman were beaten to death.

According to published reports, police were called to a home at 709 First Ave. at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday and found the victims severely beaten. Officers are looking for two men who are reportedly driving the victims' blue 2013 Ford Escape SUV.

The victims' names have not been released.

The killings, the latest in a series of violent incidents in Troy, including six homicides, happened hours before a planned rally Wednesday by citizens looking to help the city fight violence.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Postal Service confirmed to the Troy Record that armed escorts were accompanying mail carriers in Troy because of the violence.
