Tractor trailer crash affected Saturday morning traffic

SEARSBURG>>A tractor trailer crash on VT Route 9 in Searsburg resulted in blocking traffic one way, due to wintery driving conditions.

At 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, Shaftsbury Troopers and the Wilmington Fire Department responded to the crash and found that the unit was found jackknifed across Route 9, according to a release from Trooper Luke Hall. Authorities had to close the eastbound lane for one hour until the vehicle was removed while the westbound lane remained open.

Hall reported that Dionisio Camacho, 52, of Hephzibah, GA, was operating the vehicle and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver received no injuries.

Troopers found that the driver lost control of his unit on the snow covered, icy roadway traveling east because he was operating too fast for the conditions, Hall reported.

Camacho was issued one ticket for driving too fast for the road conditions and one ticket for failing to maintain lane. The vehicle received damage to the undercarriage and heavy impact on the driver's side, the report stated.

A's Tow Company aided in removing the unit.
