Bennington VFW hosting Holiday Dinner for Those in Need: Comcast's Veteran's Network, Veterans Outreach Center in Bennington and Purple Pride are joining forces to hold special holiday dinner at the VFW in Bennington. This event is open to anyone in need of a good meal and good company during this holiday season. It will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. or as needed at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), 137 North St. Open to anyone in the community who needs a meal or a place to go for the holidays.

Sunday, Dec. 27

ARLINGTON

Annual Community Wide Messiah Sing-along: The community is invited to join in the 12th annual community wide "Messiah Sing-Along" on Sunday, December 27th at 3:00 PM at St. James Episcopal Church. This year's event is once again under the direction of Scott Smedinghoff. Singers of all levels and abilities are invited to participate in this informal sing-along which will include the Advent and Christmas section of Handel's choral masterpiece, as well as the Hallelujah Chorus. Soloists include Robyn Madison, Soprano; Katie Beck, Alto; Paul Lambert, Tenor and Mark Madison, Bass. The chorus/audience will be accompanied by a small orchestra comprised of talented local musicians. Bring your voice, enthusiasm and holiday spirit as we usher in the New Year with this popular event. A limited number of scores will be available to borrow and those who have their own copy are encouraged to bring it. This year's free will offering proceeds will go to our local Food and Fuel Fund. BENNINGTON

Bennington Free Clinic Monday hours: The Bennington Free Clinic will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church, 601 Main St. Call for an appointment, 802-447-3700. Drop-ins will not be seen.

Elks hosts bingo: Every Monday, the Bennington Elks hosts bingo at the Bennington Elks, 125 Washington Ave. There will be a $1,000 jackpot and 31 games for $13. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 7 p.m.

Healing Winds at the Vets' Home: Healing Winds offers Native American healing chants and drumming on Mondays at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at the Vets' Home. Across from the Veterans' Home at the Vietnam Veterans Outreach Center at 1 p.m., they have Native American traditional crafts and arts.

Turning Point: Making Recovery Easier meeting, noon.

BENNINGTON

Overeaters Anonymous meeting: Overeaters Anonymous meets Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Bennington Free Library, 101 Silver St.

Free Peer Support group meetings: NAMI Vermont Connection Recovery Support Group for individuals living with mental illness meets every Tuesday at 12 p.m. at United Counseling Services, 316 Dewey St.

Open mic night: Tuesdays are Open Mic night at South Street cafe from 5 to 7 p.m., all are welcome.

Thrift store hours: Bygone Boutique, located in the rear of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Houghton Lane, is open from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. All proceeds go directly to the operating budget of Forrest Ward School.

Bennington Celebrate Recovery: A Christ-centered 12-step recovery program, find healing from hurts, hangups and habits. Group meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Every third Tuesday is a potluck/meeting at 6 p.m. Held at 115 Hillside St. at the Second Congregational Church.
