Tigers serve BBA 1st loss

MIDDLEBURY -- Middlebury turned a one-point edge at halftime into a close win against previously unbeaten Burr and Burton Academy, pulling off a 47-42 interdivisional boys basketball win on Monday night.

Joey Shehadi led all scorers with 15 points for BBA (6-1), while Jake Stalcup added 13. The Bulldogs remain undefeated in Division II.

Paced by Mike Weeks' 14 points, the Tigers (5-2) led 22-21 at the break.

Eagles crush Blue Devils

ARLINGTON -- Behind the firepower a 19 first-quarter points, the Arlington Memorial High School girls basketball team cruised to a 52-21 victory against Poultney on Monday night at the Eagles' Nest.

The Eagles (1-4) turned pressure defense into easy baskets and led 36-11 at halftime.

Molly Elwell paced the hosts with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Brooke Hawley added 10, whle Rayleen Sherman chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.

Julia Lacoste also scored eight points for Arlington, which heads to Mount St. Joseph Academy on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

Schoharie tops Cambridge

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. -- Schoharie used a breakout second-quarter to pick up a 45-32 win against Cambridge Central School in girls basketball action Monday night.

Hannah Bowersox (21 points) and Lauren Archer combined for 31 points for Schoharie. Olivia Mooney led Cambridge (1-6) with 13 points.

Hoosick Falls bowlers topple Granville

GRANVILLE, N.Y. -- Another 4-0 win on Monday, this time against Granville, pushed the Hoosick Falls Central School bowling team's record to 43-1 for the season.

Hoosick Falls finished with 3,711 total pins to just 3,012 for Granville.

Josh McCart paced the Panthers with a 254 high game and a 714 series. Other scorers included Bryan Callahan (237/682), Ken Marbot (234/663) and Logan Brogue (224/623).

"The team bowled great with some really good scores, coach Bob Lang said.

Monument Soccer signups

BENNINGTON -- The Monument Soccer Club has sign-ups next week at the Bennington Sports Center. Monument is a soccer club that participates in the Capital District Youth Soccer League in the spring and runs from April-June with a 10-game season.
