POWNAL -- State police have charged three people with theft after they were allegedly found removing items from a vacant property on Washing Brook Road where they did not have permission to be.

Police said they were informed of the incident by a caller who saw the trio on the property owned by Donald Mylott, of Bennington. Police said Stacy Brown, 37, Walter Susee, 44, and Darryl Whitney, 42, all of Arlington, were on the property loading items into a truck when police arrived. They said they were cleaning the property on behalf of Mylott and had permission to be there.

Mylott told police he had given no one permission to be there nor did he allow anyone to remove items.

Brown, Walter and Susee were cited for petit larceny and trespassing and are scheduled to appear in Bennington Superior Court Criminal Division on July 29. Police said more charges may be filed.
