MANCHESTER -- Police said three people are accused of stealing $1,500 in items from a locker room at Burr and Burton Academy while a dance competition was being held.
According to Manchester Police, Maria Johnson, 39, and Amber Wortman, 25, both of Chester, have been cited for petit larceny, and false information to a police officer. John Ryea, 31, of Springfield, was cited for petit larceny. They are scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court in Bennington on Feb. 17 for arraignment.
Manchester Police Sgt. Patrick Owens said the incident happened on Jan. 11 at a dance competition being held at the school. The items allegedly stolen were from a section of locker room being used by students from Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington.
Owens said the three being charged are believed to have some connection to one of the visiting dance teams, although he did not know which one or the exact nature of the relationship.
The items in question were cash and small electronics such as mobile phones and music players.
