MANCHESTER -- Mark Skinner Library welcomes Signe Burgstaller, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations on Sunday, May 25, at 4 p.m. to present "Women, Peace and Security." This free public talk takes place at Maple Street School, 322 Maple St. in Manchester Center.

In October 2000 the UN Security Council adopted a landmark resolution that reaffirmed the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and peacebuilding. Since then, real progress has been made, but also many key challenges remain in implementing the global agenda on Women, Peace and Security. What are the main achievements so far and how do we continue to move forward on this agenda?

Series Sponsors include Equinox Village, the Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning, Maple Street School, and Northshire Bookstore.

Reservations recommended: reach Cindy Waters at (802) 549-4577 or events@markskinnerlibrary.org. Reception to follow talk.
