SVC men, women fall in tournaments

MILTON, Mass. -- The Southern Vermont College women’s basketball team fell in the consolation round of the Curry College tournament, 72-52, to Johnson State.

Southern Vermont trailed by 15 at halftime, but the Mountaineers made it 50-38 after freshman Anna Lease capped off a 10-0 run, but the Badgers remained resilient en route to a 72-52 victory.

The Badgers were led by Richardson with a game-high 23 points. Sophomore Brittany Robertson contributed with 15 points and a game-best seven steals. Freshman Lazrin Schenck recorded 13 points and seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers were led by freshman Amber Flagg with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Flagg was named to the all-tournament team. SVC men fall at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Southern Vermont college men’s basketball team got 20 points and nine rebounds from Taeshon Johnson, but the Mountaineers fell 68-57 to the Coast Guard in the consolation round of the Williams tournament.

Tarvaris Jenkins and Jermaine Campbell pitched in with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Campbell also grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double. The Bears were led by David Anderson’s 24 point and 13 rebounds.

SVC drops to 0-2.
