SVC knocked out of NECC playoffs


CHICOPEE, MASS. >> It was the second straight semifinal loss for the Southern Vermont College women's soccer team in the New England Collegiate Conference tournament. The Mountaineers were shut out by Elms, 2-0, on Thursday night, ending their historic 2015 season.

Elms got on the board in the first three seconds of the second half, with a goal from Silvana Tellerico and would later tack on another goal from Lexi Vieria to seal the deal on the Mountaineers.

SVC goalie Melissa Mascari had eight saves in the contest, giving her 111 saves on the season.

2015 marked the best season in SVC women's soccer history. The Mountaineers tied a single-season high in wins with 11 and hosted its first ever playoff game.

Bennington men's basketball league looking for teams

BENNINGTON >> The Bennington Men's basketball league is in need of more players and teams for the upcoming season.

Games are Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8:45 p.m. and Saturdays at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.

The fee for a team is $550 and that guarantees 10 games.

Dodgeball at Arlington

ARLINGTON >> Arlington Memorial High School is hosting a Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the gymnasium. For those who register before Saturday, the cost to participate is $8 per person or $35 for a team of five players. Individual players will be assigned to a team. Registration on the day of the tournament is $10 per player and $40 per team.

Teams will compete in two age levels: middle school and high school/adult. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team in each age group.
