BENNINGTON — Sunrise Family Resource Center Service Executive Director Lindsay Errichetto announced that the agency has named a new Director of its Early Care and Education program and hired three new early education teachers.

Sunrise Family Resource Center's Early Care and Education Program (the ECE), open since 1969, and recently reaccredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is pleased to announce that Beth Traver Adolphus, formerly the infant room Teacher, has been appointed as the new ECE Director, succeeding Laurie Metcalfe who left to become Executive Director of Northshire Day School in Manchester.

Traver Adolphus has a Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Geneseo in English and Art, and is currently pursuing her Program Director Step I Certificate. For two years she has been the head teacher in the infant room at Sunrise, bringing her calm and nurturing presence to the tiniest people at the center. Traver Adolphus is also a breastfeeding Counselor at the Vermont Department of Health/WIC Office. She and her husband David Traver Adolphus have been married for 18 years and are the parents of two boys, 7 and 10. They live in Bennington.

Michelle Snow joins Rita Yarnal as assistant teacher in the Barn classroom, where the older toddlers (ages 2-3) play and learn. Snow had her own home child care center in Pownal for eight years before coming to Sunrise this summer. She is excited to continue working with children in a family-type setting, and brings her considerable experience as a home child care provider, mother of two, stepmother of five and grandmother of seven children! In the ones room, Casie George joins veteran Sunrise Teacher Amy Bull as assistant teacher. George previously worked in probation and parole and also worked for many years with adults with disabilities. Ralph Bennett is the infant room teacher, having worked at Sunrise as a regular substitute teacher for the past year, and as assistant teacher in the Summer Employment Opportunity program for at-risk youth.
