Stuff the Bus food collection continues on Saturday


BENNINGTON -- Among the many volunteers participating in the 5th annual Stuff the Bus on Friday were, from left, Ed Smith, Sara Henderson, Didi Budz and Bob Holmes. Held at the Bennington Price Chopper, the event was made possible by a partnership among Green Mountain RSVP, Green Mountain Express and Price Chopper.

The event, which continues during the day on Saturday, Jan. 18, is being held at the beginning of the Martin Luther King Weekend to honor his vision of neighbors banding together to fight hunger, homelessness and poverty.

Volunteers at will welcome shoppers and urge them to purchase a little extra during their grocery shopping to Stuff the Bus with non-perishable items.

Collected items will then be distributed to local food pantries.

The most needed items are pasta, sauce, canned tuna, peanut butter, cereal, soup, canned vegetables, baby food and diapers, personal care items and pet food.
