Stewart’s Holiday Match received by Mark Skinner Library

Saturday April 20, 2013

MANCHESTER -- The Mark Skinner Library has received a generous donation from Stewart’s Holiday Match 2012-2013. The grant money will be used to fund a maker space project called "Build Your Own Reading Partner Plush Pal." Children, ages 6 and up, will be invited to come to the Mark Skinner Library and make their own reading buddies from kits supplied by the library. Each child will also receive his/her own book to take home with their stuffed animal. This project emphasizes learning through multiple participatory media. Children will practice their skills at following directions, using hand/eye coordination and small motor skills, and reading silently and aloud. Having a book of their very own to take home will encourage in them a love of reading. Spending time in the library in this way builds a sense of community and reinforces the library as a welcoming place for kids to come to create and learn. The Mark Skinner Library deeply appreciates Stewart’s continued support which enables us to offer programs such as this to young members of our community.
